The Final Countdown

Monday Monday Monday

Yesterday was the last monday of the school year, and class went fast and easy. We finished up the last of the presentations, and then did an activity with Microsoft Access. I never knew that such a program existed, but it was interesting. Today is that last day of class, and Thursday is the final exam. Wednesday looks like a nice day to head to the beach! And later today looks prime for some golf. We'll see whats gonna happen!

The presentation

Today I presented my powerpoint on Viruses and the punishment revolving around such crimes. It is an interesting topic to me, and I enjoyed researching it. Other presentations today included biometric devices, gaming addiciton, and social networking. This marks the end of one more week of class, and with one more left, home is closer than ever.

Catching Up

Tuesday Class:
Tuesday was an easy day in class, we took our midterm and got to leave when we were done. It was a quick and simple day.

Wednesday:

Yesterday we started hearing presentations from fellow classmates. A lot of interesting topics were brought up including iTunes, spyware, and controlling your childrens internet usage. I am presenting today, so we will see how that goes. I chose to do punishment for computer viruses, and how it is lacking. This interests me because I know from personal and friends experiences dealing with computer viruses.

Monday again

With less than two weeks left what is left to say besides WAHOO! It's almost the end to freshman year! Class today we talked about what we were going to do our presentations on, and we reviewed for the mid term we are taking on tuesday. We also talked about some chapter 7 topics, but not to many because not all are going to be on the test. Besides that monday was a relaxing day, and we will see what Tuesday has to offer!

Wednesday Class

Almost done for the week again, and it already feels like its been a semester again.
In today's class we got into groups again and discussed applications. My group covered "cloud applications"
The most common cloud app is Google docs. A lot of you might not have heard of this, but it is a free app that can be used on google, where multiple people can work on a project together without tons of emails and getting together. Projects can be done on the web by anyone in the group of people invited to work on the project. Its a nifty app if you know how to use it.

Tuesday Class + Practice

Class:

Today's class we got into groups and discussed different topics concerning the ethics of internet usage. My group discussed how businesses monitor their employees use of internet. The topic was brought up that companies monitor and control the amount of internet people can use that work for them, and the management can see what these people see. While employees complain, the company is responsible for what the employees due, and therefore can have control on its usage.

Practice:

Sometimes you just can't put everything together. You have your good vault days, and your bad. Today was definitely a bad. A big fear of some vaulters is changing to a bigger pole. It can be scary, but the best thing to do is the same thing you have been doing. The reason we move up poles is because the pole speed is to fast, or we don't get enough "pop" out of the pole. I have been jumping on a 15' 165lbs rating pole, and it just doesn't cut it at the higher heights. Today and recently I struggle to swing up on the 170, but its all in my head, and once I can come to terms with that, I will finally qualify for nationals.

Monday's Class

Today's class was by far one of the easiest so far. We took our midterm exam, which I thought was suprising easy, and I ended up with an 85%. It's a good start to this class but next test I will definitely try to get a better score.

Bad meet.

Friday.

Class in computers was interesting today, the test on Monday shouldn't be to bad. Studying the book this weekend should help a lot.

Practice today was easy, we just warmed up for the meet today, packed up our poles and got ready for the meet today....

Today I was going to qualify for nationals, and a jump of 15'6" would have secured me a spot at nationals in two weeks. But, I had a bad vault day, and only ended up jumping 14'. There is still one meet left for me to qualify, so hopefully I can get it then. Tomorrow going to the beach to relax, and get my mind off vaulting for a bit. Next week is a new week, and I can move on from this week.

Class on Thursday 5/6/2010

Yesterday in class, we learned about the different kinds of we browsers that are available for people to surf the internet. It was interesting to see all of the possibilities and the unique functions of each of the browsers. After doing the activity in class, I think google chrome is the best browser, but because I have a mac and am used to using Safari and like it, I am just going to stick with using this browser.

My First Blog

I've never done anything like this before, I mean, ya I have a facebook, and was apart of the myspace fad, but posting daily events for everyone to read? I guess I will just take this first blog to kind of explain myself and what this is. This is an assignment for my May Term class, but I hope people can take something from it. A lot of kids wonder what its like to be a student athlete in college, and well I know a little something about it. So this blog can be used as a resource or a questionaire for prospective student athletes, most importantly pole vaulters. So hopefully I can share some good advice, and you the viewer can stay interested.

Quote of the Day:
